MRT Jakarta Again Applies 100 Percent Passenger Seating Capacity

PT MRT Jakarta has implemented a 100 percent passenger seating capacity policy starting Monday (3/14).

We set a capacity of 516 people per car

Currently, the distancing sign on the seats in the MRT transportation mode has been removed and can be occupied by passengers.

This policy complies with Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head's Decree number 145/2022 on PPKM Level 2 and Transportation Ministry Circular Letter number 25/2022 on the regulation of maximum 100 percent passenger capacity for mass transportation modes located in areas with status PPKM Level 2.

MRT and LRT Adjust Operating Hours during PPKM Level 2

PT MRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head Rendi Alhial said the maximum passenger capacity of the MRT Jakarta is currently 86 people per train.

"We set a capacity of 516 people per car," he stated, Monday (3/14).

Indonesia’s first mass rapid transit service will operate between 5 AM - 9.30 PM on weekdays and between 6 AM - 9.30 PM on the weekend.

As for the headway between trains on weekdays is set at five minutes during peak hours between 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM.

"Then the headway outside peak hours is every 10 minutes and on weekends or holidays," he explained.

The operator would still enforce the rules of social distancing in the train by keeping a distance sign, such as body temperature checks, the requirement to wear a face mask, and educating passengers on maintaining a physical distance.

"Including regularly washing hands or engaging in conversation on the train and station platforms," he closed.
